The treatment of hematuria depends on its underlying cause. For instance, if a urinary tract infection is diagnosed, antibiotics are prescribed to eliminate the infection. If kidney stones are the cause, treatment may involve pain management, increased fluid intake to help pass the stones, or medical procedures to remove larger stones. In cases of hematuria caused by trauma, rest and monitoring are often sufficient unless there is significant damage to the urinary tract. For more severe or persistent hematuria, especially when related to cancer or other serious conditions, more specific treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation may be necessary.
